HTC to Sell Saffron for US$47 Million to Cinram
September 06, 2013

HTC plans to sell 100% of its stake in Saffron Media, the UK-based company that was acquired by HTC on February 2, 2010, for around US$47 million to CDMG Holdings UK Limited, a subsidiary of the world's major CD and DVD provider Cinram, according to Taiwan's United Daily News on September 5. The transaction does not include Saffron's IP (Intellectual Property), which will still be owned by HTC after the share sale to ensure the continuation of HTC's digital services like HTC Watch around the world. Under the terms of the deal, Cinram will pay US$7.5 million in cash to HTC. For the rest US$39.5 million, CDMG Holdings UK Limited will issue 5-year corporate bonds, at 6% annual yield, to HTC Netherland BV.
